Ohio State picked up a big commitment for its 2025 class on Wednesday in four-star defensive end Zahir Mathis.

It may not be too long before the Buckeyes make another marquee addition to their 2025 class. Five-star cornerback Dorian Brew announced Wednesday he plans on committing on Jan. 24, his mother’s birthday. He put out a top five consisting of OSU, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon and Texas. Two weeks ahead of the decision, Ohio State is the likely favorite for Brew.

Brew, considered the No. 19 overall prospect and the fourth-rated cornerback in the 2025 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings, is originally from Ohio but moved to Texas with his family this past fall. He visited OSU numerous times over the past six months, including several game visits and camping with the Buckeyes in June.

“I grew up watching Ohio State, my mom ran track and she’s in the (Ohio State Athletics) Hall of Fame,” Brew said in June. “It’s been one of my dream schools for the longest time. It’s crazy I’m getting recruited and building that great relationship with coach Tim Walton.”

Should Brew commit to OSU later this month, the Buckeyes would have the makings of a star cornerback class with five-star prospect Devin Sanchez and four-star defensive back Blake Woodby already committed to the Buckeyes in the 2025 cycle.

Ari Watford puts OSU in top six

One of the top defensive ends in the 2025 class has narrowed down his recruitment. Four-star Virginia prospect Ari Watford released a top six on Monday consisting of Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Clemson.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Watford is considered the 29th-best prospect and the fourth-rated edge player this cycle. Watford was offered by Larry Johnson on Oct. 9.

Jared Curtis visiting OSU next weekend

Ohio State’s top quarterback target in the 2026 class has set his next visit to Ohio State. Five-star Tennessee prospect Jared Curtis told 247Sports he plans on visiting Georgia this weekend and then taking a trip to Ohio State on Jan. 20.

Curtis will be making his first trip to Columbus since visiting for the Michigan State game on Nov. 11. He released a top six on Dec. 23 consisting of OSU, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State and Texas A&M. Of those six schools, the Buckeyes are viewed as the current favorite for the 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal caller.

This season, Curtis threw for 2,522 yards and 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions while running for 543 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Edward Coleman includes Buckeyes in top 6

An OSU wide receiver target in the 2025 class has narrowed down his recruitment. Three-star Georgia wideout Edward Coleman released a top six on Wednesday consisting of Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Coleman took a game visit to OSU on Oct. 7 for the Maryland contest in the fall.

“It was a great visit,” Coleman told Eleven Warriors at the time. “I had a great experience and felt comfortable. Knowing I was a long way from home, I was all right with that. Because it feels like a home away from home. From what I’ve seen, I really like campus a lot. The stadium is different from every stadium I’ve been to because it looks like ancient Rome from the outside. Almost looks like some type of Roman Colosseum.”

Tackett Curtis commits to Wisconsin

A transfer portal prospect that had been connected to Ohio State is off the market. Former USC linebacker Tackett Curtis committed Tuesday to Wisconsin, one of his three finalists in high school along with the Trojans and the Buckeyes.

Ohio State had some contact with Curtis after he entered the portal, but Curtis never ended up visiting Columbus. The four-star high school recruit was heavily recruited by Jim Knowles and the Buckeyes before his commitment to USC, but OSU never went all-in on re-recruiting him as a transfer.

Ohio State has added four transfer players this offseason: Quarterback Will Howard, running back Quinshon Judkins, center Seth McLaughlin and tight end Will Kacmarek.
