With Ohio State’s first two spring practices in the books, the Buckeyes dished out three new offers to athletes on Thursday, two of whom took a spring visit to OSU on Thursday.
All three prospects are from the 2025 cycle, and we take a look at each below.
Damien Shanklin
It’s been expected for months now that Larry Johnson was going to offer four-star Indiana defensive end Damien Shanklin at some point. The long-awaited offer finally came on Thursday when Shanklin took a visit to OSU for the Buckeyes’ spring practice.

“I liked it a lot,” Shanklin told Eleven Warriors of the visit. “It was a great environment and hospitality. (I also loved) just watching the practice, the team was very competitive.”
Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Shanklin is considered the 108th-best prospect and the 10th-rated edge player in the 2025 class. He’s picked up nearly 30 Division I offers, including Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Duke, Michigan, USC, Illinois, Memphis, Ohio, Texas A&M, Washington, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Of all his offers, Notre Dame probably poses the biggest threat to OSU in its efforts to land the 6-foot-4, 230-pound standout. The Buckeyes hope to host Shanklin back on campus again sometime this summer for an official visit.
In his junior season, Shanklin recorded 66 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception and four pass deflections.
Jack Lange
Justin Frye offered another quality offensive tackle in the 2025 class on Thursday. Four-star Missouri prospect Jack Lange became the 18th offensive tackle to receive an Ohio State offer in the 2025 cycle.
After a great conversation with @CoachJFrye, im excited to announce that ive received and offer from @OhioStateFB!!! #GoBucks @ryandaytime @CoachSollenne @sumner_jake @tylerwass @EurekaFootball pic.twitter.com/Fq0fROqfcK

Lange is ranked as the 149th-best prospect and the No. 14 offensive tackle in the current cycle. He has 26 Division I offers in total. Some of his other offers include Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt and Washington.
Getting Lange on campus for a visit either this spring or summer will be the next step for OSU if it wants to be a contender to land the Missouri product.
Javeon Campbell
Shanklin wasn’t the only defensive end on campus Thursday that left with an offer. Johnson also offered three-star Kentucky prospect Javeon Campbell, who only just started playing football as a high school junior.
Blessed to receive my 13th Division I offer to THE Ohio State University! #GoBucks #RUSHMEN @ohiostatefb @r2x_rushmen1 @coachjimknowles @ryandaytime @mattparkerlr@11wrecruiting @lettermenrow @allentrieu @coachvanderpool @SWiltfong247 @adamgorney @samspiegs @chadsimmons_ pic.twitter.com/OHRiOwWUoz

You wouldn’t be able to tell that from his stat line, though, as he racked up 14.5 sacks in just seven games for Western Hills High School (Frankfort, Kentucky) in 2023. Campbell doesn’t hold a composite ranking as of yet, but the 6-foot-5, 265-pound newcomer holds 13 Division I offers, also including the likes of Kentucky, Cincinnati, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Purdue, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Western Kentucky. He's also a standout basketball player for Western Hills.
Campbell is expected to return to OSU for another spring visit on April 5 and will also likely take an official visit to Columbus. As you’d expect for someone who’s only played the sport for a year, he’s still very raw as a prospect, so he still needs a lot of developmental work, but his upside and physical traits are unquestionable.
