The Mater Dei curse at Ohio State continues.
Nearly one week after his official visit to Ohio State, four-star 2025 running back Jordon Davison committed to Big Ten rival Oregon on Friday, choosing the Ducks over the Buckeyes and the Wolverines, the latter of whom made a big push for him the past few weeks. Davison is the second running back in the Ducks' 2025 class, as he joins Dierre Hill.
OSU was the perceived favorite for him in the recruiting industry for the past few months, but the school and player ultimately opted to head in a different direction after his official visit. With Bo Jackson and Isaiah West already committed to the Buckeyes, there isn't much of a panic at that position with new running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.
With Davison headed elsewhere, the Buckeyes still have their eyes set on a three-running back class in 2025. Other targets for the third spot include Alabama commit Anthony Rogers, who visited OSU earlier this month, and Shekai Mills-Knight.
Now that the dead period is in effect, it wouldn't be surprising to see those recruiting efforts extend into the fall.
