It’s been a disappointing week for Ohio State fans on the offensive line recruiting front, but good news could be on the horizon soon.
Four-star offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden will commit on Saturday and choose from a group of four finalists consisting of Ohio State, Colorado, South Carolina and Maryland.

McFadden took an official visit to Columbus on June 7, the only official visit he took all summer. It looked promising that the 6-foot-5, 300-pound prospect would end up in OSU’s 2025 class shortly after that trip, but McFadden opted to hold off on making a decision and extend his recruitment. OSU has made a big push for McFadden in recent weeks and those efforts could pay off soon.
Meeting the media on Thursday for the first time since missing out on David Sanders Jr., OSU offensive line coach Justin Frye told reporters the 2025 recruiting class isn’t done yet and maybe not so subtly hinted “the weekend’s coming up soon.”
If OSU can land McFadden, he will become the third offensive lineman commitment for Ohio State in the 2025 cycle, joining Carter Lowe and Jake Cook. The Maryland resident would become the first out-of-state offensive lineman in the class for the Buckeyes.
Savion Hiter puts Buckeyes in top five
The No. 1-ranked running back in the class of 2026 has narrowed down his recruitment. Five-star Virginia prospect Savion Hiter included Ohio State in a top five released on Thursday consisting of OSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan and Penn State.

OSU offered Hiter last October after taking a gameday visit to Columbus. New running back coach Carlos Locklyn has picked up where Tony Alford left off recruiting Hiter, with the pair speaking frequently. The 6-foot, 200-pound running back is expected to visit OSU for a game sometime this fall, though it’s not clear for which game yet.
Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Hiter is the No. 29 overall player and the No. 1 running back in the 2026 recruiting class. Last season, Hiter ran for 1,187 yards and 11 touchdowns on 150 carries while catching five passes for 91 yards.
Where in-state OSU commits are playing Week 1
Friday night lights are officially back in the Buckeye State. Eight in-state Ohio State commits are expected to kick off their seasons beginning at 7 p.m., each hoping for a glorious end to their prep careers before migrating to Columbus for college.
Yours truly will be at Sidney High School this evening to watch Tavien St. Clair’s opening game of his season year, and I’ll share a few highlights on Twitter, if that’s your thing. If it isn’t, I’m sure most of them will appear on Eleven Warriors anyway within the next few days. Anyhow, we’ve put together a list of where each of OSU’s eight in-state commits are playing this evening.
- Five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair and Bellefontaine at Sidney High School
- Four-star offensive tackle Carter Lowe and Toledo Whitmer vs. Dublin Coffman
- Four-star running back Bo Jackson and Villa Angela-St. Joseph vs. Cardinal Mooney
- Four-star safety Cody Haddad and St. Ignatius vs. Avon
- Four-star linebacker Eli Lee and Archbishop Hoban vs. Archbishop Spalding
- Four-star tight end Brody Lennon and Gilmour Academy vs. Valley Forge
