A top Ohio State quarterback target in the 2027 class has already started narrowing down his recruitment.

Four-star California prospect Brady Edmunds has cut his recruitment down to four schools, a list which includes Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Texas.

Per 247Sports’ early top 100 rankings in 2027, Edmunds is the No. 14 prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class. He camped in Columbus in June and impressed Ryan Day and Chip Kelly enough to earn an offer from the Buckeyes.

“OSU has been one of my dream schools since Day 1,” Edmunds told 247Sports. “They have a great group of coaches in the quarterback room, so it only makes sense as to why they have such a stacked room right now. They're a national contender every year.”

Edmunds could make a decision sooner rather than later and has several visits scheduled for this fall, including a trip to Columbus for the Buckeyes’ game against Nebraska in October. The Buckeyes are the heavy favorite to land Edmunds as of now, but they’ll have to nail that visit this fall to continue to stay in the driver’s seat.

As a freshman, Edmunds threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Na’eem Offord’s recruitment “a three-horse race”

Recruiting in 2024 is not for the faint of heart. Ohio State currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle and has had very little drama thus far, but the recruitment of OSU five-star Alabama cornerback commit Na’eem Offord has heated up.

Both Auburn and Oregon have taken swings at prying Offord away from the Buckeyes. Offord visited Alabama last weekend for the Tigers’ season opener and plans on visiting Oregon on Oct. 12 for the Ducks’ matchup against Ohio State. He’ll be back in Columbus sometime this season, too. The Iowa or Nebraska games seem to be the most likely options for Offord’s visit.

Offord’s father, Kaorie, told On3 this week that it’s “a three-horse race at the last minute” in his son’s recruitment. The elder Offord was still very complimentary of OSU.

“None of them are touching (Buckeyes cornerbacks coach) coach (Tim) Walton,” the elder Offord told On3 regarding his opinion of who best fits his son’s on-field development.

This isn’t likely a matter that’s going to be resolved any time soon, and it may come down to the wire around National Signing Day, similar to the Jeremiah Smith saga from a year ago.

Offord is one of two five-star cornerbacks committed to Ohio State in the current class, the other being Devin Sanchez. The Buckeyes are still expected to take a shot in the dark and recruit four-star prospect Dorian Brew and hope to flip him away from Oregon this fall but either way, they’d like to add a third cornerback to their class. Offord’s busy recruitment may throw a wrinkle into those plans, but Walton and company are working diligently to hold on to the talented southern prospect.

Zavion Griffin-Haynes likely visiting OSU for the Michigan game

Ohio State should have a loaded recruiting visitor’s list for the regular season finale against Michigan in November. One of those visitors will likely be Zavion Griffin-Haynes, the four-star 2026 defensive end told 247Sports this week.

The North Carolina prospect is considered the No. 114 recruit and the No. 11 ranked edge in the 2026 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. OSU is the heavy frontrunner in his recruitment, but in-state North Carolina is also making a big push for Griffin-Haynes. He’ll likely also visit North Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee and Penn State. Griffin-Haynes also visited NC State for its season opener last week.
