National Signing Day for the 2025 class has concluded, but Ohio State also landed its quarterback of the future this week.
In a move that’s been forecasted for months, five-star 2027 California quarterback Brady Edmunds pulled the trigger and committed to the Buckeyes on Monday following a successful second gameday visit to Columbus this fall. Though he was born and raised in California, Edmunds has always had an affinity for OSU since his grandfather is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and grew up an Ohio State fan. The love for the Buckeyes was passed down to Edmunds.
“I've been an Ohio State fan for quite a long time,” Edmunds told Eleven Warriors this week. “My family's been Ohio State fans, so taking my second game day visit and just kind of seeing that rivalry live, I kind of felt like part of it, so I just felt I was ready to pull the trigger.”

Edmunds knew heading into his second visit he was probably ready to commit to Ohio State. When did he first feel that urge?
“I'd be lying if I said I didn't have those feelings on my first visit back in the summer,” Edmunds said.
Both Ryan Day and Chip Kelly were thrilled when Edmunds told them the good news, though the celebration was pretty even-keeled considering the decision felt like a long time coming.
“I feel like we all kind of saw it coming, I'd say,” Edmunds said. “I mean, just like the mutual connection that we have, we all have a really, really good relationship. I speak with them frequently. I'm not too sure if it came as a surprise to them, but obviously they were pretty happy. To solidify a quarterback into the class pretty early on, I feel like that's a good feeling.”
Edmunds said it’s a relief to have his recruitment out of the way early and now can put his focus on getting better as a quarterback and academics. Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Edmunds is considered the No. 10 prospect and No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class. He’ll have a shot to be the cycle’s top signal caller. In his sophomore season, Edmunds completed 217 of 348 passes for 3,222 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions while running for 312 yards and nine touchdowns.

Though he committed to OSU two years ahead of his Signing Day, Edmunds wasn’t the first commit for Ohio State in the 2027 class.
Five-star 2027 Ohio wideout Jamier Brown had that distinguished honor, as he committed to the Buckeyes in the middle of the Indiana game. Edmunds and Brown both chatted with each other during the pair’s visit to Ohio Stadium last week.
“He’s legit freaking really fast,” Edmunds said. “I’ve seen his highlights. I’m sure in the summer or the spring or whatever I’ll go and throw with him when I’m down there. I also sat next to Chris Henry Jr. down at the game, so those will be some dudes I talk to and (throw with).”
With Henry Jr. already committed for the 2026 class and Brown locked in to the class with Edmunds, he says he’s already excited about the skill position talent he’ll have around him in his time in Columbus.
“It's a great feeling knowing that you're going to have the best receiving core in the country,” Edmunds said. “You know, every year in and year out. You never have to worry about it, your wide receiver three can go be a wide receiver one at 75% of the schools in the nation.”
Edmunds said he’s excited to play in the Buckeyes’ “quarterback friendly offense” and with a quarterback friendly coaching staff.
“You're going to develop there, that's for sure,” Edmunds said. “There's a reason they also have the best quarterback room in the country right now.”
Edmunds is a long way away from his own Signing Day, but he says he’s already decided he’ll be a mid-year enrollee. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound prospect says he’s already started to peer recruit for Ohio State’s 2027 class and says he’ll primarily be focused on recruiting fellow Californians to migrate to Columbus as a start.
