Imagine that you're Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman. You've mentored a guy for two years, and he has won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year twice. But he's hurt, so you go to his backup. The backup plays like a Heisman Trophy candidate, but he gets hurt too. So you go with the third-stringer, and he leads you to the Big Ten Championship.
If you've mentored Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones to the success they've had, you would be understandably proud. Tom Herman certainly is.
