One positive to all those St. Valentine's Day workouts—other than, you know, destroying the competition in the fourth quarter—is the groundwork they lay for future life fitness.
Nine Ohio State early-entrants are preparing for the 2016 NFL Combine, which kicks off in Indianapolis on Feb. 23rd. For some prospects, these are the most excruciating workouts of their lives. For people like Ohio State's Darron Lee, however, it's terrain they can navigate without a map.
Here's Lee, speaking to NBC4, about his training:
"At Ohio State it was more rigorous. I was up a lot earlier. It was harder at Ohio State for sure.”
Lest someone take this as lackadaisical effort on Lee's part, he's reportedly up to 235-pounds and eyeing a 40-yard dash in the 4.4s.
Though his former teammate, Eli Apple, would need a few stones to make weight at 235, it looks like he's been dominating his training as well.
Here's an Instagram photo Apple shared of his training with EXOS out in San Diego:
It's easy to see why draft analysts are pegging Ohio State for an historic showing.
Apple is slated to arrive in Indianapolis with his fellow DBs on Friday, Feb. 26th. On field workouts will be held Monday, the 29th.
