A broken pinkie didn't stop Malcolm Jenkins from registering one his best professional seasons. The Philadelphia Eagles safety finished his sixth NFL season with 89 tackles, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown that cost Tom Brady home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Pro Football Focus graded him as the league's best safety, and although he was snubbed from the Pro Bowl he eventually made it as an alternate.
The Eagles, who have employed Jenkins since 2014, took note as well. On Monday, the franchise announced a five-year extension with Jenkins through the 2020 season. According to the NFL's Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth $40.5 million. It includes $21 million in guaranteed money and takes his 2016 base salary from $5.5 million to $10 million.

It is part of a wave of moves made by the Eagles, who also extended TE Zach Ertz, TE Brent Celek, OT Lane Johnson, and DE Vinny Curry.
