No. 3 Ohio State heads to Norman this Saturday to play the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners in primetime.
With his team 1-1 after a disappointing opening weekend loss to Houston, Sooners coach Bob Stoops stopped by the Big 12's weekly coaches teleconference to discuss everything Oklahoma football and this week's challenges in facing a young Buckeye team.
On what he sees on video that concerns him about Ohio State:
- "Everything."
- Quarterback J.T. Barrett is "just exceptional in everything he does."
- Safety Malik Hooker is "an exceptional football player."
- Linebacker Raekwon McMillan and defensive end Sam Hubbard drew praise as well.
On recruiting J.T. Barrett to Oklahoma: "We knew of him, but we were satisfied with the quarterbacks we had."
On Oklahoma's exceptional defense of home field over the years: "Nobody here needs to tell other people to do their job."
Will Oklahoma rely on a quarterback platoon to realize their goals?
- "Hopefully not ... We don't think that's something that needs to happen."
- "I have a lot of confidence in Baker [Mayfield]. He was much better last week."
Is it special to play against Ohio State, being from Ohio? "I believe it'd be that way if I were from Ohio or not."
On remembering Oklahoma's last-second win in Columbus: "I feel like I remember it because of the lore here, but I can't say I remember it as a kid."
On his defense: "I feel like our run defense could be better right now."
