Earle Bruce is a second father-figure to Urban Meyer. The relationship started in 1986, when Meyer sought a graduate assistant position at Ohio State.
Meyer, having played defensive back at Cincinnati, figured his path into coaching would start on the defensive side on the ball. He ended up coaching tight ends.
Meyer, speaking Thursday night while introducing his mentor at the Ohio State coaches clinic, hilariously detailed how that transition came to be.
Given that he went on to become an offensive innovator in the industry, it's safe to say his decision to apply for the tight ends job paid off.
