Four-star 2018 defensive end Tyreke Smith of Cleveland Heights wore a shirt emblazoned with "I hope I don't get killed for being black today" on Saturday to Ohio State's one-day camp.
After Eleven Warriors ran a post on Smith's motives, media outlets ranging from Sports Illustrated to The Washington Post aggregated the story.
Thursday, Smith's mom, Michelle, called into Cleveland radio show Carman and Lima to talk about her son's shirt. In it, she says no school has pulled its scholarship offer and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has "communicated his support" for Smith's right to wear the shirt.
