Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, who is still under investigation by the NFL over domestic abuse allegations from July 2016, got into more hot water Monday morning when ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported Elliott's involvement in a fight at Clutch, a one and a half star Yelp-reviewed Dallas bar, late Sunday night.
Mike Fisher of 105.3 FM The Fan in Dallas first reported the news.
Dallas police released the following statement:
On July 16, 2017, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Dallas officers were dispatched to a disturbance call in the 2500 block of Cedar Springs Road. The disturbance involved a 30-year-old male victim who stated he had been physically assaulted. According to the report, the victim did not know who assaulted him.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. There were no arrests made for this offense, nor were there anyone listed on the report as a suspect. This investigation is on-going and we will update you as information becomes available.
The Dallas News reported additional details Monday afternoon, including the identity of the assault victim.
Police records show someone struck the victim on the nose, "causing serious bodily injury." Police are investigating the incident as an aggravated assault, records show. The records don't list a suspect, however, and police haven't officially said whether Elliott was involved.
Police records identify the alleged victim as Nkemakola Ibeneme, who is a DJ and also goes by "DTrain." He did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Elliott said in June he "couldn't fart with out it being news," and had since rededicated himself to laying low.
