According to multiple reports, former Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn was arrested on Wednesday afternoon on rape and kidnapping charges related to an incident near campus.
Investigators with the Columbus Police say a woman reported Dunn held a woman down by force “with the purpose to engage in sexual activity with and against the will of said victim.” A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday.
Dunn was dismissed from the Ohio State football program in July 2016 following an altercation with his then-girlfriend. She told police he repeatedly struck her in the head and face.
A four-star recruit in head coach Urban Meyer's 2012 recruiting class — though he committed to former head coach Jim Tressel — from GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio, Dunn played sparingly as a true freshman and scored two touchdowns in Ohio State's 12-0 season.
Dunn's reported immaturity and a lack of desire to contribute on special teams resulted in a redshirt season in 2013 before he got stuck behind Ezekiel Elliott on the depth chart. He was expected to compete with redshirt freshman Mike Weber for the starting spot in 2016, but his career ended before fall camp started.
