Ohio State entered National Signing Day with a glaring need at the offensive tackle position, but a commitment from Tampa Berkeley Prep five-star Nicholas Petit-Frere early Wednesday morning helped ease some of those concerns.
Petit-Frere's decision — which was broadcast live on ESPNU — garnered only a small fist pump from head coach Urban Meyer. The son of offensive coordinator Ryan Day had quite a different reaction when the top-rated offensive tackle picked the Buckeyes over finalists Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame, though.
With Petit-Frere in the fold and a commitment later that morning from New Jersey four-star defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Ohio State finished the 2018 recruiting cycle with its highest-rated class ever.
