INDIANAPOLIS – When Sam Hubbard was asked Saturday which drills he expected to perform well in during his on-field workout at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Ohio State defensive end said he "worked really hard at the 3-cone."
That hard work paid off for Hubbard on Sunday, when he completed the 3-cone drill in 6.84 seconds, recording the fastest time among all defensive linemen.
While Hubbard opted not to participate in the 40-yard dash on Sunday, he otherwise participated in every other drill, and had an impressive showing across the board. He tied for seventh among defensive linemen in the vertical jump (35"), 13th among defensive linemen in the broad jump (9'8"), seventh among defensive linemen in the 20-yard shuttle (4.32 seconds) and third among defensive linemen in the 60-yard shuttle (11.61 seconds).
Hubbard was also singled out by Senior Bowl executive director and former Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage as the top performer among defensive ends in positional drills on Sunday.

1. Sam Hubbard/Ohio St
2. Bradley Chubb/NCSU
3. Marcus Davenport/UTSA
4. Ade Aruna/Tulane
5. Kylie Fitts/Utah
Note- Andrew Brown/UVA and Breeland Speaks/Ole Miss also looked good. #IMO
Hubbard went into Sunday wanting to prove that he was worth a first-round pick, and with the athleticism he demonstrated on Sunday, he just might have done that.
