The Buckeyes got the biggest win of the year in thrilling fashion on Saturday, rallying from a 12-point fourth quarter deficit to beat Penn State 27-26 in Happy Valley.
It was a comeback win for the ages in the face of a hostile whiteout crowd on the road against a talented top-10 team.
"it's amazing what they did. I think we kind of undersell – because Ohio State's so good and we have the expectation that they win – what happened," Joshua Perry said. "You don't get down like that. You're not going to be down 12 and just come back the way in that little amount of time that they had."
Despite the win, Urban Meyer said this week that he does not feel his team has played up to his potential, or really even close to it, at any point this season. He feels that despite being 5-0, this team's ceiling is much higher.
"I think he is right," Dan Hope said. "We've seen all year, giving up big plays – they've given up 93-yard touchdowns in both the TCU and Penn State games. That remains a big issue on defense. I think offensively, we've seen this units potential, but we've seen slow starts in both the TCU and Penn State games."
That improvement starts this week as Ohio State hosts Indiana in Ohio Stadium at 4 p.m., looking to avoid any sort of letdown game like the team's lopsided loss at the hands of Iowa last season.
"If you're Ohio State, you're reminding these players of something that happened last year," Perry said. "And it wasn't a great outcome."
The Buckeyes don't face another ranked opponent until November, but improvement has to start now, Hope said.
"This is a team that's as talented as any team in the country." Hope said. "Ohio State's got the talent to be as good as anyone in the country, but there's definitely another level that this team can play to."
