Indiana will be without its starting quarterback when it kicks off against Ohio State Saturday afternoon.
After suffering an undisclosed injury in last Saturday's 52-0 win over Eastern Illinois, the status of Michael Penix Jr. was up in the air all week. But during the pregame festivities in Bloomington ahead of this afternoon's game against the Buckeyes, Penix Jr. wasn't throwing in warmups.
That'll put Peyton Ramsey behind center for Indiana, and he's proven plenty capable throughout his career. In last year's game against the Buckeyes, Ramsey threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions in a 49-26 Ohio State victory.
The loss of Penix Jr. is significant, however. The dual-threat freshman won the starting job in the offseason and gave the Indiana offense the added threat of the quarterback run. He threw for 523 yards and three touchdowns while adding 75 rushing yards on the ground during the Hoosiers first two games.
The Ohio State - Indiana game kicks off at noon ET and will be televised by Fox.
