When Ohio State traveled to Bloomington two weeks ago, eight true freshmen made the trip. Yesterday, that number increased by three as eleven youngsters made the trip with an impressive seven seeing the field during the Buckeyes' 48-7 shucking of the Cornhuskers.
Another week, another touchdown for Garrett Wilson. The stud receiver – yes we can now call him a stud – scored for the third consecutive week. He only had one catch against Nebraska, but it was a beauty:

With Ohio State leading 41-0, and facing 2nd and goal from the 6, Justin Fields threw a fade to the left corner of the end zone. Garrett the Great grabbed the pass in the extreme corner and was able to get both feet in. What made the touchdown catch more impressive, was that corner of the end zone had very little room in Memorial Stadium's weak impersonation of an Arena League field.
Running back Marcus Crowley's number was called in the waning moments of the game. He was given the ball on four consecutive plays and his third carry guaranteed that Ohio State would be able to run out the clock. On 1st and 10, Crowley burst through the line and showed his speed as he rumbled 36 yards to set-up the victory kneel down. Crowley finished the game with 4 carries for 45 yards. For the season he is averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
Offensive linemen Harry Miller played the final nine snaps of the game. He entered the game with 6:05 remaining and cleared the way as the Buckeyes ran the ball eight-straight times and gained 63 yards before taking a knee.
Linebacker Craig Young, running back Steele Chambers and Wide Receiver Jameson Williams saw action on special teams. You might remember seeing Williams get his world rocked on the kickoff following Nebraska's only score. He muffed the catch, and as he was scrambling to secure the ball, the Cornhusker's coverage unit knocked him backwards hard enough to wake up the partisan crowd. Fortunately for Williams, Nebraska was offside and had to kick again. Unfortunately for Williams, he is still feeling that hit today.
This week, Michigan State comes to town. Next week's Freshman Tracker could have more players receive ink if the Buckeyes continue their stellar play. However, Mark Dantonio has a track record of having his Spartans ready for the Ohio State juggernaut.
Under the NCAA's redshirt rules, a player can appear in up to four games at any point throughout the season and still count it as his redshirt year. In all, 13 freshmen have seen playing time this season, with six – Crowley, Harrison, Miller, Williams, Wilson and Young – now ineligible for redshirts as they've appeared in more than four games.
