Just three weekends ago, a Twitter account operated by the Washington Post tweeted a column with the following caption: “Is it too early to call Chase Young a bust? Perhaps, but pressure is building.”
On Sunday, Young answered that question resoundingly: Yes, it was much too early.
As part of a dominant first-half performance against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Young recovered a fumble and returned it 47 yards for his first NFL touchdown.

That was far from the only highlight of Young's first half against the 49ers on Sunday, in which he recorded four total tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a pass deflection. Both his sack and his forced fumble were textbook displays of the explosiveness that made him a superstar at Ohio State and why the Washington Football Team selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's NFL draft.

Already considered to be the frontrunner for this year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, Young appears to be well on his way to joining Joey Bosa, Marshon Lattimore and Nick Bosa to become the fourth Buckeye to win that award in five years.
Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is also playing for the Washington Football Team in Sunday's game after starting quarterback Alex Smith suffered a leg injury in the first half.
