Ohio State football players Trey Sermon and Jeremy Ruckert celebrate a Big Ten championship

331 rushing yards doesn't just happen.

It's the product of many things, like talent, opportunity, skill, and a healthy measure of luck all aligning in such a way that a guy like Trey Sermon (who many of us had written off early in the season), can come out and put together a ridiculously amazing afternoon of football.

My very first Ohio State football memory is Eddie George against Illinois, setting the record that Trey Sermon broke last night. College Football Playoff and Big Ten Championship aside, that's the kind of thing that makes sports fun; I can draw a direct psychic line from my ten year old self to now, connected by a scarlet and gray thread that stretches back far before my lifetime and will hopefully continue on long after I'm gone.

That it happened in such an important game, when Ohio State was on the ropes, makes it all the better.

THE TEAM

THE ALUMNI

DAMMIT IT'S TRUE

THE REST

And that'll do it! Undefeated, unbowed, unbent, unbroken, unbossed, etc. Now we wait to see what the rest of Ohio State's postseason will look like, but I have the sneaking suspicion that it'll involve a familiar foe. Until then!
