The summer hype train keeps chugging.
Sporting News on Tuesday dropped its 2021 preseason All-American teams, which featured four Buckeyes. Senior wide receiver Chris Olave and fifth-year defensive tackle Haskell Garrett were chosen among the first-team All-Americans, and junior wideout Garrett Wilson and fifth-year offensive tackle Thayer Munford were second-team selections.
Olave's a popular preseason pick given his outstanding resume and standing as a potential 2022 first-round NFL draft pick. So, too, is Garrett who was an All-American honoree by several outlets last season due to his breakout campaign. Munford, as a fourth-year starting left tackle, has said he wants to be the best offensive tackle in college football. Wilson's a prime All-American candidate, too, even if the targets will get divvied up between Olave, Jeremy Ruckert, the other wideouts and him.
Olave, Munford and Garrett were all preseason first-team All-Americans when the Walter Camp Football Foundation came out with its teams last month.
Six other Big Ten players made were All-American picks by Sporting News: Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson (first team), Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum (first team), Northwestern safety Brandon Joseph (first team), Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson (second team), Indiana cornerback Tiawan Mullen (second team) and Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker (second team).
Fifty-eight days remain until the Ohio State football season kicks off.
