Caleb Downs has Ohio State’s first punt return touchdown since 2014.
The J.T. Tuimoloau experience is underway.
The Buckeyes' prolonged recruitment of the five-star defensive end ended a week and a half ago when he picked them over Washington, Oregon, USC and Alabama. In doing so, he became the top-rated defensive prospect to ever sign with Ohio State.
Tuimoloau is now officially enrolled in the university and, as of Thursday afternoon, listed on the football team's online roster. He reportedly touched down in Columbus on Sunday.
He doesn't have a number yet, per a team spokesman.
Tuimoloau's July arrival means he'll have less time to prepare for the 2021 football season than any other scholarship player on the roster. Many came to Columbus as early enrollees in January, and others got to town in May and June for full summer workouts. Tuimoloau can begin working out this week with preseason camp beginning in a few weeks.
In opting to play for Ohio State, Tuimoloau made the program's 2021 recruiting class the best in the modern recruiting era, per the rankings.
Of note: Per the official roster, his name is pronounced too-ee-moe-low-ow.
