Jake Hausmann was waived by the Detroit Lions on Friday, but he's getting another shot.

The former Ohio State tight end was claimed off waivers by the New York Giants on Saturday, joining two of his former Buckeye teammates – running back Mike Weber and wide receiver Austin Mack – on the Giants' roster.

Hausmann, who arrived at Ohio State as a four-star recruit but caught just three passes for the Buckeyes, was signed by the Lions as an undrafted free agent in May. They ultimately decided to waive him before the start of the preseason, but he'll now look to show what he can do in New York, where he'll need to stand out as a blocker and on special teams to have a chance to make the Giants' roster.

He's one of 16 rookies from Ohio State trying to make it in the NFL this summer. Justin Fields (Chicago Bears), Pete Werner (New Orleans Saints), Josh Myers (Green Bay Packers), Wyatt Davis (Minnesota Vikings), Trey Sermon (San Francisco 49ers), Baron Browning (Denver Broncos), Tommy Togiai (Cleveland Browns), Luke Farrell (Jacksonville Jaguars), Shaun Wade (Baltimore Ravens) and Jonathon Cooper (Denver Broncos) were all selected in this year's NFL draft while Tuf Borland (Minnesota Vikings), Drue Chrisman (Cincinnati Bengals), Blake Haubeil (Tennessee Titans), Justin Hilliard (San Francisco 49ers) and C.J. Saunders (Carolina Panthers) are also on rosters as undrafted free agents.
