C.J. Stroud is the new Heisman Trophy favorite.
In the aftermath of an offensive explosion against No. 19 Purdue, Stroud now has the best odds to win the 2021 Heisman Trophy on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
Stroud currently has +125 odds, ahead of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young's +250 and Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III's +450. Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson is on the board too, but in a distant sixth with +5000 odds.
The jump comes after Stroud went 31-for-38 through the air for 361 yards and five touchdowns. Stroud current ranks No. 5 in the country in passing efficiency, No. 6 in passing yards per game, and is tied for No. 3 in passing touchdowns per game.
Stroud has a chance to further bolster his Heisman Trophy resume with back-to-back games against top-10 opponents Michigan State and Michigan and potentially a Big Ten title game showdown with the Big Ten West champion.
If Stroud keeps up this pace and is invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony next month, he would become the third-consecutive Ohio State starting quarterback to be named a Heisman Trophy finalist following Dwayne Haskins (2018) and Justin Fields (2019).
