For the third week in a row, Ohio State is No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings.
After demolishing Indiana 56-14 on Saturday, the Buckeyes advanced to a perfect 10-0 and are still the second-best team in the nation according to the CFP committee behind Georgia and in front of Michigan and TCU. Tennessee and LSU are the first two teams on the outside looking in.

In a week where there were no changes in the top five of the rankings, College Football Playoff selection committee chairman Boo Corrigan said there was little debate on who this week’s top four should be, with the committee believing “there has been separation with Georgia” and everyone else for the No. 1 spot, though that could change over the next three weeks.
“Each time we went through the process, we came up with Georgia one, Ohio State two, Michigan three and TCU four,” Corrigan said.
Ohio State's best wins this season are a 21-10 victory over then-ranked No. 5 Notre Dame in the season opener and a 44-31 road win against then-ranked No. 13 Penn State in Happy Valley.
The Irish crashed after losing to the Buckeyes, but first-year head coach Marcus Freeman's team has experienced a revival after upsetting Clemson two weeks ago and has risen to No. 18 in the CFP Poll. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions have stood pat in the top 15 in the polls, with their only losses at the hands of Michigan and Ohio State, and are currently at No. 11 week's rankings.
This weekend, Ohio State travels to Maryland to face the Terrapins – a team Ryan Day called "always dangerous" in his Tuesday press conference, especially when they play at home in College Park. Day said the Buckeyes will need to be ready for whatever Maryland head coach Mike Locksley and his team throw at them on Saturday.
In two weeks, the Buckeyes will host Michigan in the Horseshoe for the first time since 2018. If the current CFP rankings hold after this weekend's games, Ohio State and Michigan will battle in a top-three matchup in Columbus – the first since the 2016 season and, before that, the 2006 season.
