Yet another Buckeye is headed to New Orleans.
The Saints added another former Ohio State football player to their roster on Thursday when they signed former Buckeye center Billy Price, who becomes the seventh former Ohio State player on the Saints’ current roster.
Price joins former Ohio State wide receivers Chris Olave and Michael Thomas, cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore and Bradley Roby, linebacker Pete Werner and defensive tackle Jerron Cage as Buckeyes currently under contract with the Saints.
Entering his sixth year in the NFL, Price has now joined his fifth different NFL team. He spent most of last season with the Arizona Cardinals, starting their final 11 games of the year at center.
Price started his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals, playing three seasons in Cincinnati before being dealt to the New York Giants, who he started 15 games for in 2021. He spent time on the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad last season before he was signed with the Cardinals.
Price is likely to be a backup on the Saints’ interior offensive line behind starting center Erik McCoy and guards Andrus Peat and Cesar Ruiz.
Before signing Price, the Saints were also interested in bringing in fellow former Ohio State center and Rimington Trophy winner Pat Elflein for a tryout. However, Elflein opted not to participate in the tryout because he is still looking for an opportunity to start, according to NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill.
