Noah Rogers Become Third Wide Receiver in Ohio State’s 2023 Freshman Class to Lose Black Stripe

Noah Rogers became one of the latest freshmen to join the “official” ranks of Buckeyes when he had his black stripe removed following Ohio State’s scrimmage on Saturday.

Rogers was one of two freshmen to have his black stripe removed on Saturday along with defensive tackle Kayden McDonald.

A four-star recruit from Rolesville, North Carolina, ranked as the No. 8 wide receiver and No. 53 overall prospect in the 2023 class, Rogers has drawn praise dating back to this spring for the playmaking ability and work ethic he’s shown in practice in his first year as a Buckeye.

“He has a high G.A.S. (give a shit) factor. He just really has the ceiling that's not calculable,” Hartline said this spring. “He can be that good. It all comes down to what kind of work he puts in. But again, he shows every bit, he wants to put the work in. So, great young man.”

Rogers joins Carnell Tate and Bryson Rodgers, who were also midyear enrollees, as freshman wide receivers who have had their black stripes removed this year. Brandon Inniss, who did not enroll at Ohio State until this summer, still has his black stripe.

Collectively, Rogers and McDonald are the seventh and eighth freshmen in the 2023 class to have their black stripes removed so far, also joining tight end Jelani Thurman, safety Malik Hartford, offensive tackle Luke Montgomery and cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr.
