Brandon Inniss Becomes Second Summer Enrollee in Ohio State's 2023 Freshman Class to Shed Black Stripe

It wasn't long before there was a second. 

Freshman wide receiver Brandon Inniss had his black stripe removed on Monday after completing his 15th practice of fall camp, Ryan Day confirmed to reporters later that morning.

Inniss' recruiting pedigree has been on display in fall camp thus far, as the five-star prospect was considered the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the 2023 class per 247Sports' composite rankings. After losing his black stripe, he can finally consider himself officially a Buckeye.

"Brandon Inniss, I believe he got his black stripe off today, that was exciting," Day said. "He had a nice scrimmage and he's really a football player. I think we all wish he was here in January, but that's OK. He's doing a great job. He had to come in the summer and figure all that out, but he will. He's got a pretty crowded room in there that he's got to work through. But he's trying to get in on special teams as a returner and those types of things." 

The Florida native is the fifth wide receiver to lose his black stripe dating back to spring practice, with Carnell Tate, Noah Rogers, Bryson Rodgers and David Adolph all losing theirs. Of that group, Tate was the only one to lose his in the spring.

Inniss is the ninth freshman in total to lose his black stripe, joining Tate, Rogers, Rodgers, tight end Jelani Thurman, safety Malik Hartford, offensive tackle Luke Montgomery, defensive tackle Kayden McDonald and cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr. Additionally, Joshua Padilla also lost his black stripe Monday.
