The first question of Tuesday’s press conference with Ryan Day hadn't even been fully asked before the Ohio State head coach emphatically exclaimed “yes” that the Buckeyes were ready to name a starting quarterback.
Day officially named Kyle McCord as Ohio State's Week 1 starter, but said Devin Brown would also play and that he hopes to give Brown “meaningful” playing time against the Hoosiers.
Other revelations from Tuesday's press conference included Jayden Fielding earning the nod as OSU's starting kicker and Malik Hartford, Ja’Had Carter and Josh Proctor all being expected to see time at free safety in Week 1.
Those are the topics of conversation on the second episode of Press Coverage, a new video series in which Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope and Andy Anders are discussing the biggest headlines from Ryan Day’s weekly press conferences.
Andy goes into detail about how he expects McCord to succeed in Ohio State's offense, while Dan is interested in seeing just how much both quarterbacks play against Indiana on Saturday. They also discuss why they think Jim Knowles is holding off on naming a starting free safety and what that means for the defense as well as why they think Fielding beat out Parker Lewis for kicking duties.
You can find Dan and Andy's thoughts on all three main topics discussed from the press conference in the video at the top of the page.
