That could have gone better!
But, also? A lot worse. Right now I feel like Samuel L. Jackson's Ray Arnold in Jurassic Park when he told John Hammond to chill out just because his grandkids didn't get to see a Parasaurolophus do five backflips in a row on the park's first tour. Nobody had gotten eaten (yet) and the cars worked. At that point in the movie, that was enough.
Then of course the cars get jacked up and people do get eaten, including Ray Arnold, but Ohio State has the talent and knowledge to avoid that fate if they can figure out how to fit the pieces of the offense into a coherent whole. The consternation comes from how quickly they need to do this, because after Youngstown State they host a team that can sling the ball around with the best of them, and then have to travel to take on a resurgent team led by a 34 year old quarterback.
Still, it's the first game, and a win. That's a good place to start.

THE ALUMNI
Defense was great. Offense was ok. Mccord ahowed enough. It's definitely something to build off of. I feel good after week 1.

Reading some of these tweets about OSU offense and the QB situation reminds me of 2 years ago, OSU opened up @ Minnesota and it wasnt the high flying offense we were used to seeing as first year starter CJ Stroud took over.. be patient, this team can be scary!!!

If you dont like people commenting on the team playing bad.. dont play bad. Thats the nature of sports. Play good, ppl praise you. Play bad, ppl critique. Its entertainment.

THE REST
Beginning to see why it was so tough for Ohio State to make a decision at quarterback.

Kyle McCord on CBS postgame:
— Chase Brown (@chaseabrown__) September 2, 2023
"There's a lot to learn from (the game). I'm excited to go back and watch the film. As an offense, we had our moments, moved the ball well and scored a few times. But at the same time, there's a lot to improve. ... We left some points on the field."

If the plan to defend Marvin Harrison is commit pass interference and hope it doesn't get called, my Heisman pick is in trouble.

Ryan Day should be fired for not, uh, benching his starting QB for a guy wearing 33 skipping balls all over the turf in garbage time

And that'll do it! I'll see you next week as Jim Tressel is much more conflicted about the game than he anticipated!
