Jim Tressel isn’t taking a side today.
The former Ohio State and Youngstown State coach showed up at Ohio State’s Skull Session on Saturday wearing one of his signature vests with an Ohio State logo on one side and a Youngstown State logo on the other.

Tressel remains a legendary figure at both institutions after leading Youngstown State to four national championships as the Penguins’ head coach and Ohio State to a national championship in 2002, his second year leading the Buckeyes. Tressel returned to Youngstown State to serve as university president from 2014 until this past February, when he retired.
With Tressel in attendance, Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming, special teams coordinator Parker Fleming and head coach Ryan Day addressed the crowd at Saturday’s first pregame Skull Session of the year, where they encouraged Buckeye fans to be loud as they support the home team inside Ohio Stadium on Saturday.
“My favorite tradition is the Skull Session right here, because we recognize the best fans and the best band in the land,” Day said. “This offseason, we have worked our tail off to try and fight for every single inch we can get. Today will be one of six that we have in Ohio Stadium, and you’re gonna see this team play this way today.”
