Ohio State remained locked in at No. 3 in the AP and USA TODAY Coaches polls after its 41-7 domination of Purdue, setting the stage for a top 10 matchup against Penn State on Saturday.
In the AP Poll, the Buckeyes remain slotted behind No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan while No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Washington rounded out the top five. Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas, Oregon and North Carolina filled up the remainder of the top 10.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Iowa jumped back into the rankings at the No. 24 spot after a 15-6 win over Wisconsin on Saturday. Michigan and Penn State are the only ranked teams remaining on Ohio State’s schedule.
The USA TODAY Coaches Poll did not deviate from the AP Poll at the top, with Ohio State also ranked behind No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan while No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Washington completed the top 5. Penn State dropped a spot to No. 6, and Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and North Carolina rounded out the top 10, according to the coaches.
Iowa also broke into the Coaches Poll rankings, slotting in at No. 23 while Maryland received 11 votes. Similarly to the AP Poll, Penn State and Michigan are the only remaining ranked teams in the back half of Ohio State’s schedule.
Both polls categorize Ohio State’s bout with Penn State on Saturday at Ohio Stadium as a meeting between top 10 teams. FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College Gameday will be on hand in Columbus for the contest, which will carry major postseason implications.
