Ohio State A 5.5-Point Favorite In Top 10 Matchup Against Penn State

All eyes will be fixed on Columbus when Ohio State welcomes Penn State for a top-10 clash with major postseason implications on Saturday.

As is usually the case in a matchup of this magnitude, the oddsmakers expect a tight contest with the Buckeyes sitting as a 5.5-point favorite over the Nittany Lions and the total for Saturday’s game set at 48.5 points, according to the Action Network consensus lines

However, there is some variation from the sportsbooks regarding the spread. DraftKings has its spread set as low as 4.5 points while FanDuel is in accordance with the consensus line of 5.5. 

Through six weeks, Ohio State is 3-3 against the spread but has covered in three of its last four games with the lone exception coming in its 17-14 win over Notre Dame, in which the Buckeyes were favored by 3.5 points. Penn State’s 6-0 record matches their mark against the spread, as the Nittany Lions have won all of their games by at least 17 points. 

Ohio State holds a 23-14 all-time record against Penn State, including six straight wins against the Nittany Lions. Penn State last beat Ohio State in 2016 in State College, Pennsylvania, but has not conquered the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium since 2011. 

The clash of Big Ten East titans will kick off at noon on Saturday from Columbus and will be televised on FOX. Both FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College Gameday will be on hand at Ohio Stadium for the game.
