Supply and demand dictates the rise and fall of prices in a capitalist economy, and when it comes to the CFP national championship game, demand is very high right now.

One day ahead of Ohio State and Notre Dame's clash in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the cheapest available ticket on Ticketmaster is priced at $1,946 as a packed house is expected on Monday.

A seat in the lower bowl of the arena will set consumers back at least $2,500, while the most expensive tickets available cost north of $6,000. Prices have dropped some since Saturday and could dip a bit more as kickoff approaches, but it will still be a hefty fee for any fans who want to get in last-minute.

A StubHub spokesperson told the Associated Press on Thursday that the game is “on track to be our best-selling CFP national championship game in StubHub history,” while Vivid Seats reported that the game is its “hottest college football ticket” since 2009.

StubHub spokesperson Joseph Bocanegra told the AP that 17% of ticket sales had come from the state of Ohio, with Illinois having the second-most at 6% and Indiana having the third-most at 4%. As for tickets provided by the CFP for each school to sell to its fans, each school sold its full allotment of 20,000 tickets, according to CFP senior director of communications Brett Daniels.

While tickets are exorbitantly pricey, fans will at least be able to get cheap food after they get in.

The Buckeyes and Fighting Irish kick off the CFP title game at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, with ESPN set to broadcast the contest.
