Houston Texans Signing Former Ohio State Cornerback Jeff Okudah to One-Year, $4.75 Million Deal

The former Ohio State cornerback reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth $4.75 million with the Houston Texans on Monday. The contract includes $2.5 million in guaranteed money, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, and comes with a maximum value of $6 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Texans are giving CB Jeff Okudah a one-year, $4.75 million deal. He gets $1.5 million to sign, a $2.75 million base, and $500K in per-game roster bonuses.

Okudah heads to Houston to join former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud’s Texans after spending last year with the Atlanta Falcons. He was with the Falcons for just one season after they acquired him in a trade with the Detroit Lions, who sent him to Atlanta in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

The No. 3 overall selection in the 2020 NFL draft, Okudah did not perform up to expectations in Detroit, partially due to injuries as he missed time as a rookie with hamstring and core muscle injuries and all but one game in his second year with a torn Achilles. Still, he has started 31 games in four NFL seasons and is only 25 years old, giving him the potential for his best football to still be in front of him.

A unanimous All-American in his final season as a Buckeye in 2019, Okudah allowed 32 catches for 494 yards with zero touchdowns and three pass breakups for the Falcons in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus.
