Johnathan Hankins Expected to Sign Contract With Seattle Seahawks

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Hankins is expected to sign a contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

The veteran defensive tackle is the second Buckeye to sign with Seattle in free agency along with linebacker Jerome Baker. The Seahawks’ roster now includes four former Ohio State players, including fellow former OSU defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones as well as former Buckeye wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The 31-year-old Hankins spent the past year-and-a-half in Dallas after he was part of a midseason trade between the Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. The New York Giants' second-round pick in 2013, Hankins played four seasons with the G-Men, one season with the Indianapolis Colts and four-and-a-half seasons with Oakland/Las Vegas.

Throughout 11 years in the NFL, Haskins has appeared in 152 games and made 134 starts. He has amassed 403 total tackles, 39 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 12 pass breakups in those contests.

At Ohio State, Hankins became a starter as a sophomore and recorded 67 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. The following year, Hankins had 55 tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack and received All-Big Ten and All-American honors after the season.
