With each passing practice, it seems Ohio State nudges closer to solidifying its starting five on the offensive line.
From left to right, a starting unit of Josh Simmons, Donovan Jackson, Seth McLaughlin, Luke Montgomery and Josh Fryar appeared as the first-team grouping on Student Appreciation Day. That lineup could very well be deployed this fall, especially with Montgomery saying on Monday that he's been almost exclusively at guard this spring.
Elsewhere along the front five, McLaughlin is gaining more comfort and control at the center position after transferring in from Alabama. Carson Hinzman is giving him a push at the position, however. Fryar is addressing some of the issues he saw at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Ohio State is expected to hire Oregon running backs coach Carlos Locklyn to fill the same role in Columbus, according to multiple reports. Locklyn brings a unique backstory, but he'll have to get to work quickly on the recruiting trail. (Update: Ohio State finalized a deal with Locklyn on Monday night.)
Eleven Warriors' Andy Anders and Dan Hope discussed their takeaways from Monday’s offensive line interviews and shared their initial thoughts on Locklyn in a new episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch in the video player at the top of the page.
