Ohio State’s defense is widely projected to be the best in the country in 2024. The Buckeyes have a bevy of returning stars from last season’s defense that ranked No. 2 in the country with only 11.2 points allowed per game. Defensive linemen Jack Sawyer, JT Tuimoloau and Tyleik Williams lead the Buckeyes up front while Alabama safety transfer Caleb Downs joins Denzel Burke, Davison Igbinosun, Jordan Hancock and Lathan Ransom in a loaded secondary that should live up to its “Best in America” moniker.
Ohio State’s offense, with an 89 overall rating, is ranked as the fifth-best in EA Sports College Football 25 behind Georgia, Oregon, Alabama and Texas. Ohio State’s defensive rating of 96 is two points higher than any team’s offensive rating.
Per EA Sports, the development team “meticulously examined hundreds of thousands of data points” in creating their ratings for each team. EA Sports teamed up with Pro Football Focus to analyze each team’s rosters, game film and statistics. All ratings will be subject to change over the course of the season based on team performance.
EA Sports is set to unveil its overall team rankings on Friday while individual player ratings will be released in July.
EA Sports College Football 25 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 19.
