Ohio State is the second-best team in EA Sports College Football 25.

After EA Sports revealed Ohio State has the No. 5 offense (89 overall) and No. 1 defense (96 overall) in its soon-to-be-released college football video game, the studio announced the Buckeyes are the second-best team overall with a 93 overall rating. Georgia is No. 1 with a 95 overall rating.

According to EA Sports, the studio's development team "examined hundreds of thousands of data points" when creating ratings for each team. The studio also partnered with Pro Football Focus to analyze each team's roster and statistics. Offense, defense and overall ratings will be updated throughout the season based on team performance.

When EA Sports College Football 25 releases on July 19, Ohio State's offense will rank fifth behind Georgia (94), Oregon (94), Alabama (91) and Texas (91) at 89 overall. The Buckeyes' defense will rank first ahead of Georgia (94), Oregon (90), Alabama (90) and Clemson (90).

To calculate team overall ratings, EA Sports combined a team's offensive rating, defensive rating and a handful of other factors. Ohio State checked in as the second-best team overall behind Georgia and ahead of Oregon, Alabama and Texas. Other teams ranked in the top 10 include Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, Penn State and Utah. Michigan sits just outside the top 10 at No. 11.

EA Sports will announce the players who will be featured in the game and their individual ratings next month. EA Sports College Football 25 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 19.
