Ryan Day took a few minutes out of his busy schedule at Big Ten Media Days to chat with Eleven Warriors about what Ohio State needs to accomplish in preseason camp, what he’s learned in his first five years as coach and what makes this year’s team different from his past teams.

Day said preseason camp will be “very, very important” for this year’s team’s quest to achieve its goals and says the Buckeyes need to be physical in their preparation for the season. He said he’s learned too much in his five years as coach to go through in one interview, but said one of the biggest things he’s learned is how important it is to “have the right people in the right seats,” which he feels Ohio State has this year.

He thinks this year’s team has the opportunity to be special because of how much returning experience and leadership it has. He specifically praised the likes of TreVeyon Henderson, Cody Simon and Gee Scott Jr. for the leadership they’ve brought to the team this offseason. And he says the most important thing the Buckeyes need to accomplish during the preseason is to establish their identity on offense.
