Archie Griffin is now immortalized at Ohio Stadium's most recognizable entrance.
Ohio State's two-time Heisman Trophy winner, the only one in college football history, watched as a statue of himself was unveiled in the Horseshoe's rotunda on Friday.

Before the unveiling, Griffin gave a speech thanking everyone who played a part in his success and answered questions from members of the media. Ohio State president Ted Carter, coach Ryan Day, athletic director Ross Bjork and Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation president Dedan Brozino also spoke about Griffin, praising the Buckeye legend not only as a football player but as a person who has made a major impact on the community.
Griffin is the Buckeyes' career rushing yards leader by more than 1,000, collecting 5,589 yards with an average of 6 yards per carry. He recorded 31 consecutive games with at least 100 rushing yards, an NCAA record that still stands.
The statue of Griffin outside Ohio Stadium matches one revealed at the Rose Bowl on Aug. 17. A street sign labeling Tuttle Park Place as "Archie Griffin Drive" where it intersects with Woody Hayes Drive near the Shoe was also unveiled in August to honor the 50th anniversary of Griffin's first Heisman.

Ohio State will cap its month honoring Griffin by making him the 15th non-band member and second former player – joining Earle Bruce, who was mostly being recognized as a coach – to dot the 'i' in Script Ohio. He'll do so at halftime of the Buckeyes' game against Akron, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
