Ohio State looked dominant against Akron on Saturday, cruising to a 52-6 victory, but that wasn't enough to cover the enormous 50-ish point spread that gambling services were giving out before the start of the game.
For next week against the Western Michigan Broncos, the line is starting at a slightly more sane 37.5 points (with the O/U set at 52.5) against a team that the Buckeyes have only played once before, a 38-12 victory in September of 2015.
Played while the Buckeyes were still trying to decide on a starting quarterback between J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones, the Ohio State offense put up over 500 yards of offense but gave fans plenty to have angst about as both quarterbacks were underwhelming for the day and ended up throwing an interception each. Ezekiel Elliott was still a beast, however, rushing for 124 yards on just 16 carries and carrying the team to a win.
This year, with an established starter at quarterback and offensive weapons everywhere (to say nothing of one of the best defenses in the country), bettors are expecting Ohio State to improve upon their first crack at the Broncos.
Coverage for this year's matchup between the Broncos and the Buckeyes will begin at 7:30 p.m. on BTN, and then actually start like 13 minutes later because that's how it always works for some dumb reason.
