Ohio native Kaleb Johnson is eagerly anticipating Saturday's matchup between Iowa and Ohio State.
The star Iowa running back is second in the nation in rushing yards at 685 and has scored nine touchdowns en route to helping the Hawkeyes to a 3-1 start. But he isn't just letting his on-field play do the talking for him.
Meeting with a group of reporters this week, the Hamilton, Ohio, native claimed he wouldn't have gone to Ohio State even if the Buckeyes extended him an offer in the 2022 recruiting class. That's because he wanted to take them down as part of another team.
“Even if they offered me, I wouldn’t have went," Johnson said on Tuesday. "I want to beat them. That’s my goal.”
Johnson was a three-star recruit in the 2022 cycle and was considered the No. 435 prospect and No. 35 running back per 247Sports' composite rankings. Other schools that offered Johnson included Cal, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.
