Iowa is going to make games clunky. It's what the Hawkeyes do.
Ohio State's first half against Iowa definitely had its share of clunkiness, at least on the offensive side of the football. But it took mere minutes of third-quarter action for the Buckeyes to break their second Big Ten game open, with an offensive line establishing great gains on the ground and Will Howard finding his form as Ohio State rolled to a 35-7 win.
Having wide receivers the caliber of Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith helped Howard sharpen his performance in a day that ended 21-of-25 passing with five total touchdowns for the quarterback. On the defensive side of things, star Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson was held largely in check by a ferocious Ohio State defensive line as the Buckeyes' linebackers bounced back in a big way.
After a maligned performance against Michigan State, Sonny Styles piled up a team-high seven tackles with two tackles for loss. Cody Simon had six tackles, while Jack Sawyer picked up 1.5 sacks with a forced fumble at defensive end. All told, Iowa averaged just 4.7 yards per play.
Andy Anders and Dan Hope discuss those positive trends for the Buckeyes and more on the latest episode of After Carmen, Eleven Warriors' postgame show, which you can watch in the video player at the top of the page.
