Will Howard was one of the week’s best quarterbacks in college football.
The Ohio State quarterback was selected as one of the Davey O’Brien Award’s “Great 8” quarterbacks for Week 6, recognizing him as one of the top eight signal-callers in the country for his performance in the Buckeyes’ 35-7 win over Iowa.
Howard earns the honor for the first time this season after an efficient performance against the Hawkeyes in which he had more total touchdowns (five) than incompletions (four). Howard completed 21 of 25 passing attempts for 209 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception, while he also ran for 28 yards and another touchdown.
For the season, Howard now ranks eighth in the country with a passer rating of 178.0 as he’s completed 71.5% of his passing attempts (93-of-130) of 1,248 yards and 12 touchdowns with three interceptions. He’s also rushed for a touchdown in four straight games.
Howard is joined on this week’s “Great 8” list by another familiar face to Ohio State fans – former OSU quarterback Kyle McCord, who made the list for the third time this season after leading Syracuse to an overtime win over UNLV. Also on this week’s list are Minnesota’s Max Brosmer, Army’s Bryson Daily, Pittsburgh’s Eli Holstein, Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia, Washington’s Will Rogers and Miami’s Cam Ward.
