A Michigan man is officially a Buckeye.
Freshman offensive lineman Gabe VanSickle shed his black stripe after Ohio State's practice on Wednesday. The Coopersville, Michigan, native becomes the 13th member of Ohio State's 2024 class to add scarlet to his helmet and the first since tight end Max LeBlanc, who lost his black stripe last week.

A four-star prospect in the 247Sports composite, VanSickle originally committed to Northwestern out of Coopersville High School. However, after Ohio State discovered the 6-foot-5 offensive lineman late in the recruiting process, the Buckeyes landed his commitment on Thanksgiving 2023.
Before arriving at Ohio State in June, VanSickle told Eleven Warriors he planned to treat his freshman season as a developmental year with the Buckeyes.
"I want to just keep getting stronger and better every day because if you get 1 percent better every day, that adds up after a while," VanSickle said.
