Jeremiah Smith now holds all three Ohio State freshman receiving records.
With a 17-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter against Purdue, the wide receiver broke Cris Carter's Buckeye freshman receiving touchdown record, grabbing his ninth score of the year.

Smith caught a touchdown in each of his first seven games wearing scarlet and gray, also a record by several games. That streak was only broken last week in Ohio State's 20-13 win at then-No. 3 Penn State. Smith did manage to surpass Carter's receiving yardage record in that contest, where he had four receptions for 55 yards.
Smith then broke the freshman receptions record with his 42nd catch of the year in the first quarter against the Boilermakers.
Even in the offseason, Smith broke records, becoming the earliest-ever black stripe removal by a freshman and the first-ever freshman Iron Buckeye by the team's strength and conditioning staff.
Entering Saturday's game, Smith was Ohio State's leader in receiving yards (678) and touchdowns, with his 39 receptions second behind Emeka Egbuka's 46. Smith's record-breaking scoring catch put the Buckeyes up 21-0 with 27 seconds remaining in the first half.
