A five-star freshman started his first game for Ohio State on Saturday.
Eddrick Houston, the No. 26 prospect in the 247Sports composite for the recruiting class of 2024, took the field in place of star 3-technique defensive tackle Tyleik Williams for the Buckeyes' first series.
Williams sustained an ankle injury at Penn State last week, though he was considered available for Ohio State's matchup with Purdue on Saturday. Houston was recruited to play defensive end for the Buckeyes but moved to defensive tackle earlier this season. He's posted one tackle in 31 snaps this year.
The bout with the Boilermakers marks the third game Williams missed with injury, and Houston is the third different defensive tackle to start in his place. Hero Kanu opened Ohio State's Week 4 contest with Marshall and Tywone Malone started at Michigan State.
Jason Moore will also be an option at the position for the Buckeyes.
