Every coach across college football would take a boring win at this stage of the season.
No drama, no chaos, no major snafus. Ohio State dismantled Purdue 45-0 on Saturday and beat the Boilermakers soundly on offense, defense and even special teams.
There wasn't much in the way of talking points, but a number of compliments at least to dish out. The Buckeyes got excellent play out of defensive ends JT Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer, who combined for two sacks and a third-quarter scoop-and-score. Their re-engineered defense has not allowed a touchdown in either of its last two games.
Jeremiah Smith broke Cris Carter's Ohio State freshman receptions and touchdown records as the Buckeyes' passing game was efficient overall, and while there were some lulls running the football, they still averaged 4.9 yards per carry.
In the third phase of the game, Ohio State recorded its first punt block in two years as Caden Curry blocked a punt to set up the Buckeyes’ first touchdown of the game.
